Re: “LIVE: The Execution of Richard Leavitt

There was a lot more then just blood that convicted Leavitt. I do believe that the state if possible should have done a DNA testing on any blood sample from the scene to be absolutely 100% sure it was him. Danette Elg had identified Leavitt as the man that attempted to break in to her house the day before she was murdered. I can't find if they knew each other before, but Leavitt was the one that notified police that she was missing and to check her house. From what I've read that was law enforcements first "red flag" that Leavitt had something to do with it. Leavitt was also a person if interest for several rapes in the area. He had a cut on his hand stitched up the day of the murder. Said it was from a "fan". My gut tells me from what Ive read about this case from other sources that Leavitt would have killed again. I believe that he would have been a serial killer. Had they found Elg sooner I think he would had killed again. But when he notified LE that she was missing it put a lot of attention on him. Having knowing people that work inside ISCI, hearing about some of the inmate reaction to this execution and then hearing stories of Leavitts behavior in prison, learning that the inmates did not send him a condolence card like they had with the previous execution I think speaks to how they felt about Leavitt.

Re: “House Passes Second Luna Bill, Governor Expected to Sign into Law

Great, so now that two out of three have passed, we get to wait for the overhauled third part to pass also. Just think of this. Less teachers, but more tech support. It will be a boost to the electricians who get to rewire all the classrooms of 9-12 through out the state to accommodate 57 million dollars in laptops (over 5 years). Don't forget the internet providers that will have to go out and install new servers and wireless internet systems large enough to handle the volume of laptops. Any chance that HP will get the bid for the laptops. More then likely it will be one a Chinese company that Idaho has been working to do some trading with. All the electrical work will probably come from out of state bids. I'm sure the internet install/provider will also be out of state. And lets not forget the 700-1000 teachers (college educated/graduates that will be on unemployment (for how many months). So will that push our unemployment rate into double digits. We hear our leaders ramble on about new job growth and creating new jobs, but we want to cut 700-1000 jobs over two years. So all of those teachers will more then likely leave the state. IF they are all married now we just lost twice the people to out of state. All of that tax revenue from sales tax or gas/cigarette tax, property taxes. Like the state needed more losses in the revenue department, not at the 150-500 million deficit (this number depends on who is talking and on what day its being said) that our state has for this year.

It brings an old saying to mind. If it isn't broken don't fix it. Was our system that broken. Are we (Idaho) going to be the leaders of this new 21st century educational system. Is it cheaper for Idaho to fail then other states. I hope not because we are betting our children's education on it. BTW Mikey, if I read right those laptops do not leave the school.

Re: “Road Sharing 101 Adds Cans to the Mix

What happens when that "Three-Feet-To-Pass" requires vehicles to cross lanes and end up in on coming traffic? I'm all for bicycle safety but what happens when it puts my safety in jeopardy?
