Re: “Idaho House (aka the Simplot Mansion)

Don't bulldoze such a beautiful home! Blow it up instead. And have fireworks after. Say on the Fourth of July.

Re: “Mail and Commentary March 9, 2011

Oops, the last comment to Misty Bright did not post under my real name. I'm Paul Thomas, the guy Pete Simmons "agrees" with who wrote the letter last week.

Re: “Mail and Commentary March 9, 2011

Dear Misty Bright: Obviously you're a very sincere person, and I applaud you for it. Sincere people have pure hearts, and often don't recognize sarcasm when they see it. So let me assure you that both Pete Simmons and myself are only using sarcasm to make a point.

Of course, if Pete really is for real, that would be scary indeed.

Re: “BPD Chief Talks Guns on Campus

Our BPD chief misses the point completely. Concealed weapons primarily serve as a deterrent to crime, not a remedy to crimes in progress. When any law abiding citizen can get a concealed weapons permit, it makes the bad guys much more nervous about selecting potential victims. Gone are the days when bad guys could target the elderly and the weak with impunity, or walk into a store knowing that the only gun they had to worry about was (maybe) behind the counter. An armed society is a polite society.

Re: “Magnum Force Fetish

There is no reason for any civilian to own a gun with a large magazine, other than the fact that they are funner than hell. Anybody who has ever shot a Thompson submachine gun on full auto would have to agree. It puts a grin on your face from ear to ear.

Re: “Fired Boise Co-op Founder/Manager Talks to BW

I met Gary Lyons once when I was selling portraits at a local event. He told me that there was no way that he and his wife would purchase a portrait from me because I didn't use an HP printer, and he did so in front of other potential customers. His arrogance is only exceeded by his pompousness. Ken has his quirks, but he's a genuinely good person who had Boise's best interests at heart.
