Re: “Mail and Commentary Feb. 22, 2012 - Online Edition

I suppose I stand corrected, Miss Daigle. Space limits not withstanding, there has been little real reporting by any organization on this levy, including the Weekly. It does seem something more responsible than just a puff piece on the District/Friends by Mr. Prentice might be in order.

Re: “Boise School Levy Secures High-Tech Support

Duh, it's easy for these companies to support more property taxes. They are able to write off their higher taxes as part of the cost of doing business. Their employees all have high paying jobs that are VERY UNUSUAL in this valley, so a few hundred more $ in property taxes on their homes is no big deal!

There is a distinct separation between the "intelligentsia" and the rest of the population around here. Remember when you try to "do good for the community" that WE all don't have cabins in McCall, new vehicles, unlimited travel funds...etc., some of us are just trying to pay for our homes and groceries.

Re: “Mail and Commentary Feb. 22, 2012 - Online Edition

Apparently the Weekly is not "alternative" enough to put "NO on the Levy" letters in its print edition. Only pro levy letters have been in print editions so far, despite the two outstanding online "NO" letters above. Formulaic and emotional "yes" letters that regurgitate school district templates are o.k., but well written and and factual "no" letters are not? Hmmm.
