Can't afford a couple hundred million for Vets - who've fought, died and sacrificed - to put them back to work, get them out of the unemployment lines and help recover the economy. We can however, afford $2.3 trillion for Bush tax cuts - which have worked toward the weakest jobs creation and income growth in modern history. The Tax Policy Center reported that the Bush tax cuts, which lowered the top tax bracket from 39 to 35%, have cost the Treasury more than $2.3 Trillion since they were enacted. The Center on Budget & Policy Priorities reports that the Bush tax cuts, if extended, would become the largest contributor to the deficit than any other line item, to include Defense Spending, within a decade. According to a Jan 2012 Congressional study, those earning more than $1 million annually saw their tax rates drop more sharply than any group in the country. Based on an exhaustive analysis of tax records and census data, the study found that while the Bush tax cuts reduced rates for people at every income level, they offered the biggest benefits by far to people at the very top. It's not that we can't afford this Vets Jobs Corps Bill; it's that we have our budget priorities on what's most important completely WRONG.…
