drhoecker: Magnets aren't called "loadstones" because they can carry a load, they're called "lodestones" because they were used to lead miners to lodes of iron ore. Also, I've seen the Youtube videos for the magnetic drives you're talking about; if they worked so well, people would be using them by now. From what I've seen, they can go fast under no-load situations, but cannot provide any usable torque.
