Re: “Goddamn the NGRA*

Also, in his article, Mr. Cope referenced the Fortune article. "The Mexican government has estimated that 2,000 weapons are smuggled daily from the U.S. into Mexico." This is not a verified statistic - merely an estimate. I hesitate to rely on anything the Mexican government has to say at this point. I agree with Innes Wright, "I wish the NRA would get the hell out of my barrel." I am not a member and it is entirely unlikely I will become one.

Re: “Goddamn the NGRA*

I ask you this question directly, seekandfind - What specific Federal Permit do we, as law abiding citizens, need to purchase a fully automatic gun?

Re: “Goddamn the NGRA*

Quick question to my fellow posters - Did anyone else read the article Cope referenced?

Re: “Goddamn the NGRA*

Bubba Lars here. Bill put a bug in my britches when he stated, "if you're 18 and don't have a felony record, you can walk into one of those outlets, plunk down $20,000, and walk out with 20 or more automatic weapons." That statement clearly does not hold water. Even a cursory internet investigation reveals his lack of understanding. seekand find states it is an arduous process. This is true. But, to my understanding, there are no special permits required. One must pass criminal background checks and pay a $200 tax on each automatic weapon to be purchased - up front. Additionally, the local sheriff must 'sign-off' on the purchaser. This process can take 3 - 6 months. bikeboy is correct too. If said purchaser "one man" sells his automatic weapon to "another man" who isn't legally qualified to possess it, he is certainly in peril of prosecution.

Re: “Dishonoring the Dead

First, I must point out I have never served in the USA military. Second, My Dad was attaching JATOs on B-47s at Mountain Home AFB when the Soviets were positioning missiles in Cuba. I was a tadpole then. I have grown to appreciate the service of all that serve the USA military. When one desecrates the hallowed ground where our distinguished service persons rest, that person shall be labelled a traitor. I have friends intered there. Threaten to punch me!?
