Abortion Activists=Moving Targets

The Brandi Swindell Territorial Militia for Unplanned Parenthood, aka Generation Life, was out in full force last Friday, and they brought their usual weapons--graphic pictures of aborted fetuses. Their opposition--or at least, one Nampan who didn't feel like looking at graphic pictures of aborted fetuses during her drive home on that particular day--also brought a weapon ... her car.

According to a story in the Idaho Press-Tribune, Gail Mower, 52, got fed up with the spectacle just after 2 p.m., and drove into the middle of the pack of protesters-- heading right for one of the signs. She stopped just short of it, but wedged the foot of Lenette Jackson, one of the protesters, against the sign. Jackson was not injured.

Mower had reportedly called Nampa Police earlier in the day to complain about the "graphic and obscene nature of the sign," and was upset to see that it had not been removed. She also is reported to have told authorities that her goal wasn't to damage the sign, but just to block it from the view of nearby schoolchildren. Mower was cited for disturbing the peace, but more charges could be forthcoming.

The protesters were picketing in opposition to a Nampa psychiatric office that has begun offering limited Planned Parenthood services, such as STD testing, breast exams, pregnancy test and emergency contraception, on the first Saturday of each month. It does not offer abortion services.
