Ada Comprehensive Plan to be Updated

Not sure how to handle all the growth that has occurred in Ada County over the last decade? Join the club. After nine years, Ada County is finally updating the Ada County Comprehensive Plan, and is seeking public input at a series of upcoming meetings. The Comprehensive Plan is meant to be a guide for both citizens and government to the proper way to handle land use and growth issues--everything from how eminent domain proceedings should work to what areas in the foothills should be targeted for conservation. The new plan, according to the Ada County Department of Development Services, could incorporate elements from recent long-range, anti-sprawl planning efforts including the Blueprint for Good Growth and Communities in Motion regional transportation plans. To view both the old plan and the new ideas, visit www.adaweb.net/departments/developmentservices. For more information about the other community planning schemes, visit www.blueprintforgoodgrowth.com or www.communitiesinmotion.org.

The meetings are scheduled to take place on Monday, November 28, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners hearing room at the Ada County Courthouse; Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 6:30 to 9 at Lake Hazel Elementary Schoool, 11711 W. Lake Hazel Road; and Wednesday, November 30, 6:30 to 9, at the Eagle High School Cafeteria, 574 North Park Lane, Eagle. Additional public meetings are scheduled for January and June 2006, and the revised plan is due next fall.
