Ahead of what is expected to be a scorching week, Ada County has offered a piece of good news: the impending opening of float season 2016.

It's time to break out the stand-up paddle boards, inflatable rafts and swimming suits, because the opening date is coming up fast: on Wednesday, June 29 the boat launch and tube rental station at Barber Park are both set to open.

The announcement came after the Boise Fire Department removed a number of "obvious and known obstructions to recreational floaters" from the Boise River between Barber and Ann Morrison parks.

In its announcement, Ada County reminded river users there may still be some obstacles in the river, and children under 14 years of age must wear an approved personal flotation device. Additionally, no alcoholic beverages or glass containers are allowed on the river.
