Re: “Social Justice for Social Workers?

These funds are meant to help people in serious need of services. When companies line their pockets with large amounts of profits that they make off of the very individuals who are sacrificing their time, heart, and money~ including providing their cars, paying for gas, not being compensated for any paperwork or phone calls outside of face to face client time the overall service is seriously compromised. There is a high rate of turn-over from burn-out because PSR workers have to take a huge client load to pay their bills and the money they invest in their work, while the companies keep the employees exempt and independent contractors so they don't have to take responsibility. This is morally wrong!!! The client is hurt in the end. Companies utilize independent contractor rules and exempt rules so that they don't have to pay certain taxes or take responsibility for the psr worker's actions (often times related to desperation). The companies are now being highly compensated for interpreters and making four times in profit what the interpreters are actually being paid by the agencies. THIS IS WRONG! THIS IS MORALLY AND ETHICALLY WRONG. If you want a lucrative business/profit, don't hurt the vulnerable. Psr workers put their entire heart and soul into the job and truly care about these people. It is painful to create these kinds of social conditions which go directly against social work!!!!
