Ahead of the Avalanche

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is offering basic avalanche awareness classes to snowmobilers. The first seminar will be held November 2, 6-10 p.m. in Idaho Falls with a field segment to be held at a later date.

Classes will also be offered in Boise, Coolin, Couer d'Alene, Grangeville, Twin Falls, Preston, Lewiston and Cascade throughout the season.

Class size is limited to 50 people, and because they reach capacity quickly, pre-registration is required. The Idaho Falls class will be held at IDPR's East Region office, 4279 Commerce Circle. Call (208) 525-7121 before October 28 to register. For more information, call 334-4199 or visit www.idahoparks.org for a complete schedule of classes.
