Alive After Five: Jerry Joseph with Acousticats

Old, wise, and hard-rocking

If for some reason, despite his many appearances in Boise, you haven’t been able to catch a Jerry Joseph show, tonight’s your night. For one, it’s Alive After Five so it’s a free party in the heart of downtown. Second, Jerry Joseph always puts on a killer concert.

Tonight’s performance is booked as a “solo/acoustic” event. Meaning that Joseph won’t be playing with his beloved Jackmormons. But fear not, solo Joseph still rocks. This won’t be some introspective singer/songwriter affair; he’ll have the old acoustic cranked to 11 and his deep, raspy vocals even louder.

Jerry Joseph’s a man of little rest. He just finished up a tour with Stockholm Syndrome, his band with Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools. And earlier this year the Jackmormons put out a record called Badlandia (Cosmo Sex School Records). Other than that, Joseph is constantly on the road fine-tuning his creative abilities and adding to his already impressive catalogue of hard rock, Americana and folk songs.

The Washington Post had this to say about Joseph, “Sounding occasionally like John Mellencamp's older, wiser and psychologically mixed-up sibling, Joseph writes complex, image-laden songs and infuses them with plenty of attitude, soulfulness and swagger.”

Getting the party started will be local folk-pop act Acousticats, you can stream their demo, which contains covers of The Avett Brothers, Nirvana, and others here.
