Alive After Five Kicks Off Tonight

The Fishtank Ensemble with The Well Suited

Alive After Five enters into its 24th year with a combination of synth-heavy, gypsy-infused performances by Fishtank Ensemble and The Well Suitedon the Grove this evening.

Local power-pop group, The Well Suited, opens the night with a range of high energy songs filled with heavy doses of synthesizer, guitar and strings and will be followed up by California-based Fishtank Ensemble.

Fishtank Ensemble has performed at SXSW, The Getty Museum and the Carbondale Mountain Festival and, most recently, completed a two-week California tour to celebrate the release of their new CD, Woman In Sin. Their gypsy-infused songs are inspired by Romanian, Balkan, Turkish and Tango music mixed with plenty of jazz and flamenco sounds. Singer Ursula Knudson's extensive vocal range perfectly complements the large amounts of bass-plucking and vivacious fiddling heard in nearly every song.

Except for the rainy weather, this show promises to evoke the feeling of a jam session 'round the campfire.
