Alive After Five: Roster McCabe with Soul Serene

Jams to keep you moving

In 2006 some long-haired, Grateful Dead loving college buddies out of Minnesota got together and formed a band. They jammed for long hours in a garage, eventually settling down on some songs and releasing a demo. Before long, the band added a couple more members, bringing them to a five-piece group and taking them into clubs and venues around the Twin Cities area. The band, known as Roster McCabe, made the most out of these gigs—venturing into lengthy sets of free-form improvisation, heavy reggae, funk, and hard rocking guitar solos. The crowds loved what they heard, and the Roster built a modest grassroots following in the area. The band then spread out, performing in cities all across the Midwest, releasing additional material, and eventually making their way to the stage at Alive After Five, where they plan to bring their noodle-friendly jams in all their glory.

Local act Soul Serene will get the party started with more jammer-friendly tunes. The four-piece act has been playing around the valley for the past few years, pleasing audiences with their brand of rock, pop and reggae.
