Alive After Five: The Young Dubliners

Grove Plaza, Aug. 1

For some, Celtic Rock might be reserved for St. Paddy's Day, paired with a green beer and corned beef. But for the Young Dubliners, it's a year-round, if slightly misleading, label for its Irish-influenced sound. On the band's website, lead singer/guitarist Keith Rogers said, "The sound was always intended to be a hybrid ... Even though two of us are from Ireland, a lot of the music we listened to growing up wasn't Irish at all. When we got here, we got homesick and developed a new appreciation for Irish music. In truth, the Celtic riffs can just as easily come from the American band members." The band's latest album, Nine (self-released, 2014), was funded through fan donations. Hear the multicultural tracks for yourself when The Young Dubliners stops in Boise for Alive After Five.
