Oregon State Police are investigating an incident that began with an alleged kidnapping at an Ontario, Ore. convenience store and ended in tragedy when two people were killed in a head-on, two-vehicle crash on Oregon Highway 201.

Law enforcement was summoned to an Ontario convenience store early Friday morning, where police were told a man had kidnapped a woman and fled from the scene in a Dodge pickup. Ontario police were joined by OSP when a high-speed chase led to Ontario Highway 201. According to authorities, the chase ended near the highway intersection with Southwest 18th Avenue when the pickup crossed over the center line and slammed into an oncoming Ford SUV.

OSP said two people were killed in the crash: an unidentified woman in the truck and the driver of the SUV. A passenger in the SUV and the driver of the pickup—the alleged kidnapper—were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to a nearby hospital.

No names have yet been released and OSP closed off Highway 201 between Ontario and Vale through much of the day while the investigation continued.
