The 2019 Boise Ice Cream Festival, which will run Tuesday, May 28, through Sunday, June 2, has yet to announce its venue, but there are already 20,000 people interested on Facebook, and more than 750 committed to attending. On the event's discussion page, commentor Anne Ernst wrote:

"You scream,
I scream,
We all scream,
Save the date....."

That really sums it up. With the weather set to spike to nearly 80 degrees in the next few days, plenty of Boiseans have ice cream on the brain, and an event that gathers favorites like Goody's Soda Fountain, Stella's Ice Cream, The STIL, Fanci Freez, Toni's Sun Valley Ice Cream, C4 Creamery, Reed's Dairy and many more for a single event is welcome at any time of year.

The highlight of the festival will be a so-called "Grand Tasting," which will feature more than 200 flavors of ice cream with thousands of possible combinations of toppings and mix-ins. There will also be what the website describes as "a series of decentralized events around Boise" with offshoots including "Collaboration," which will pair locally produced ice cream with dishes from local restaurants, and "Drive Up," an event focusing on classic drive-in fare like burgers and fries served with old-fashioned desserts that never get old, including milkshakes and soft-serve. As the BICF website puts it: "Get there before it melts."
