Art Works Gallery was established in 1995 by a group of local artists who wanted to cooperatively display and sell their own work. Today, Art Works has a membership of some of the finest artists and craftspeople in the region, from Idaho, Montana, Washington and British Columbia, working in widely varying media, including oil paintings, baskets, watercolors, sculptures, jewelry, metal work, cards, gourds, tiles, calligraphy, photography, pottery, fine furniture, handmade soap, cut stone, enameled copper, pressed flowers, fused glass, blown glass, stained glass, turned wood, inlaid wood, carved wood, silk paintings and hats. With a gallery located in the heart of downtown Sandpoint, Art Works aims to provide its artists unique opportunities for exhibiting to the largest local and visitor audience possible (artists who might be unable to afford gallery space on their own are able, through this cooperative effort, to co-own a fine gallery in Sandpoint). When space is available, Art Works Gallery will jury in new members and represents other artists on a consignment basis. The gallery is associated with the Pend Orielle Arts Council. Open seven days a week.
