Re: “Big Bird's Burgers

I have a grudge against The Pursuit? Really? I wonder where I said or even hinted at that. I'm guessing it wasn't in the part where I said I didn't leave the church on bad terms, miss Paul, and have ties to people still in the church.

I have a grudge against Nick? Nope. Never met the man and actually heard nothing but good things about him from the people we both know. It's no personal attack, and I apologize to him if he sees it as such. But he left out an important piece of his background which influences the nature and background of his review. If a legit food critic was in the same boat and did what Nick did, he'd be taken to task for it, and rightly so. "Conflict of interest." I want my reviews with no traces of impartiality. If my agenda is for him to come clean and admit impartiality issues to the reader, then guilty as charged.

Re: “Big Bird's Burgers

Thanks for the heads up, tripper. I didn't know the world solely revolved around government issues. How silly of us to be debating here.

Nick, you basically reiterated my point that neither your nor Nathaniel's review can be trusted. I side with Mr. Solts on this issue, but I'm the type of person that will call someone out (even if I agree with him/her) if I don't think he/she is fighting fairly, and I don't think you're fighting fairly unless you disclose the relationship between you and the church, no matter what argument you come up with. Of course there's some bias involved-- get real. Clucky above me disclosed his/her bias and therefore I have no issue with that.

In my opinion, any employee of The Pursuit has a higher ranking in the church status than a standard churchgoer. I'm an ex-member of The Pursuit and haven't gone in quite awhile, and therefore didn't know you're not employed there anymore.

As to my anonymity-- I see no good in calling myself out. Twice online (using their real name or some variation of it) and once in real life, I've seen ex-members taken to task by people in the church, and some of it was some pretty petty crap. We hold similar Facebook friends, and I hold acquaintanceships with people that you saw going to work every day. Though I didn't leave the church on bad terms and miss seeing Paul, I think these relationships could be jeopardized by outing myself based on what I've experienced.

Re: “Big Bird's Burgers

What "NickShoe" failed to mention is that he's a high-ranking member of The Pursuit. While I'm no fan of Nathaniel injecting religion into much of his review, I think Nick was disingenuous in not revealing his relationship to the church that he and Mr. Solts attend and trying to pass of using his culinary history as some sort of impartial review when he's anything but impartial. Both reviews scream "agenda," and are therefore worthless to me.
