  • Today is the last day for Treasure Valley residents to sign up for home and business solar panel installation assessments through Solarize the Valley. The initiative pairs homeowners and business owners with contractors in an effort to increase solar-generated electricity in the region. The goal for the program this year is to install panels on approximately 60 homes to generate more than 350 kW of electricity. When Snake River Alliance launched STV in 2016, 400 people received assessments and 49 homes were fitted with rooftop panels.

  • Following a weekend of white nationalist demonstrations that turned violent in Charlottesville over the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, protesters pulled down a statue of a Confederate soldier in Durham, North Carolina on Monday, ABC News reports. A video of the protesters tearing the statue down went viral, and some may be charged with vandalism following the incident. Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews wrote in a statement he is "grateful the events that unfolded Monday evening did not result in serious injury or the loss of life, but the planned demonstration should serve as a sobering example of the price we all pay when civil disobedience is no longer civil."

  • The Boise Police Department has released new details about a Sunday shooting in the North End. The suspect, Andrew Dechambeau, 29, of Boise, has been arrested and charged with felony counts of Aggravated Battery and Burglary, and the victim who took a bullet near his shoulder and has been released after being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
