“Sometimes dreams alter the course of an entire life.” —Judith Duerk

Dear Dream Zone, I dreamed that I had a 2-year-old son. He was running away from me. I had no idea what I should call him and it seemed as if he didn't know me. —Camilia 21, Sacramento, CA

Lauri: This child represents something in your life or something within you that is currently growing and developing. Like the age of the child, what has been going on in your life for the past two years or so? It is also significant that he was running from you as this means he represents something that seems to be eluding you ... something you are after but can't seem to fully grasp or claim. This is also why you did not know what to call him and why he did not seem to know you. Are you having a bit of an identity crisis, unsure of what you want out of life or unsure of yourself and what you can accomplish? Whatever the case, this child is a part of you or some part of your life that you need to get a hold on. It's something that you need to recognize and nurture ... because like a child, there is an awful lot of room for growth with you.

Camilia replies: I must admit, I am pleasantly surprised at the depth of this dream! The past two years has been a quest for me to get off of Public Assistance and get financially on my feet so I can move into my own place (I'm currently residing with my daughter's paternal grandparents). Yes, I have been unsure of what I want to accomplish and how to go about figuring it out. I have recently started a new job that has the potential to reach some financial goals. Thank you so much for helping me understand this!

Fascinating Sleep Fact: The record for the longest period without sleep is 18 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes during a rocking chair marathon. The record holder reported hallucinations, paranoia, blurred vision, slurred speech and memory and concentration lapses.
