Half of August may be long gone but the next two weeks are still busy for the foodie crowd. Here's what's shaking between now and the end of the month:

• Snake River Brewers monthly meeting happens Thursday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m. The home brewing club meets the second Tuesday of every month at various locations throughout the Treasure Valley. This month the home brewers meet at Noodles Pizza Pasta Pizzazz (1802 N. Franklin Rd., 208-466-4400, Nampa). A one-time annual membership fee of $20 is required. • The Basque Museum's annual Winefest is Friday, Aug. 15, starting at 5:30 p.m. With more than a hundred wines, tapas samples, music, a silent auction and more, it's a night of fun on the Basque Block. For more information, visit basquemuseum.com.

• Your kids mean well when they bring you cereal for breakfast in bed, but maybe you should send them to the kids' crepe class Saturday, Aug. 16, at CHF Home Furnishings (104 S. • A few days later, the grownups have their chance to learn something new in the kitchen with Ryan Lancaster's Fresh and Fabulous class at CHF featuring chilled avocado and cucumber soup, fish tacos, grilled pesto marinated skirt steak and berry napoleons. • The second annual Eagle Food and Wine Festival is August 22-23. Friday night's gala at SpurWing Country Club features food from Chef Jason McLenna and wine from six wineries to benefit 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games. • Wrapping up the month is the annual City Harvest, which starts Friday, Aug. 29, and keeps cooking through Sunday, Aug. 31. Saturday morning's Capital City Public Market will be expanded with additional vendors, and that night features the City Harvest Dinner with five courses and wine pairings.
