Ballet Idaho Dancers to Hit the Runway for Spring Fashion Show Fundraiser

Ballet Idaho's dancers are used to performing in front of large audiences, and Ruby Lou Clothing Boutique Owner Lou Russell said it's that ease on stage that takes the company's annual fashion show to the next level.

"It's a fashion show that, when it starts, people aren't chit-chatting. They are watching the show," Russell said. "...When the girls model, because they're dancers and performers they're really animated, and it's just fun, it's super fun."

This year's Spring Fashion Show is set for Thursday, April 4, in the Ballet Idaho Theater at Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a silent auction, pre-show snacks by Horsewood Catering and drinks from Press & Pony, with the runway show kicking off at 8 p.m. In between the high-fashion strolls of their compatriots, Ballet Idaho dancers will take over the catwalk for short dance performances.

As it has since the first year of the fundraiser, Ruby Lou will contribute clothes to the show and help fit the dancers in advance for outfits and accessories. Other participants include Back on the Rack, COACH, In Retrospect, Piece Unique & Shoez, Rooney Mae Couture and SHIFT boutique. Russell said all of the boutiques donate their time, the clothes and often gifts for the auction as well.

"I do it because I think it's part of my job as being a store downtown, it's nice to support these community things," she said. "And I like Ballet Idaho so I want to support them. If business comes my way [because of the show], that's a bonus."

Front-row seats at the runway are already sold out, but chairs in several other sections are still available at prices ranging from $40-$75. Click here to learn more.
