Band of Horses

Neurolux, May 31

The last time Band of Horses came through town, their CD, Everything All the Time, hadn't even been released, and yet they played to a packed Neurolux. Of course it helps to create buzz when your forthcoming album is going to be released on Sub Pop Records and it also helps when said album is produced and recorded by Phil Ek, who has worked with everyone from Modest Mouse to Built to Spill and The Shins. Now that the album has been released, it will be very apparent why Neurolux was packed last time and will be filled to the brim again this time. Everything All The Time is a collection of 10 well-written and well-produced songs. The obvious gems on the album are songs like "The Funeral," "The Great Salt Lake," and the aptly named, "The First Song." But this isn't an album with only a few songs worthy of mention. What makes this album noteworthy is that there is no filler. Every song has a purpose as the album goes from haunting and ominous to playful and epic.
