Benefit for Sierra Kallam, Dec. 19, The Venue

If you are a young driver or have a young driver in your home, this show might be important for more than just a reason to get out of the house or to hear some talented local musicians.

Several months ago, Centennial High School student Sierra Kallam was involved in a fender bender. When she stepped out of her car to exchange information, she was hit by an uninsured drunk driver. The Venue is hosting a benefit show from which all of the proceeds will go to help defray some of Kallam's accruing medical costs.

The talent that will make this show not only a good cause but a good time are melodic metal group This Misery, hard-core screamers Worldbreaker, clever Christian rockers A Rotterdam November, thrashing rock band Drain the Pool and indie rockers Bank. It's an eclectic group of musicians who, together, will make an even more eclectic night of music. Donations for Kallam can also be made to Treasure Valley Worship Center, P.O. Box 545, Meridian, 83680.

Underground Uncovered Productions, a new concert promoter in town, is behind this show. From the start, their mission has been to bring music out of basements and bedrooms and into venues for which it is well-suited. Along with shows at the Venue, UUP also offers over-21 downtowners a quieter night of music every Thursday with Lush Unplugged. Shows start at 9 p.m. and cover is only $2. Trev Wilson of Bridging States plays Thursday, Dec. 11, and Bank performs on Thursday, Dec. 18.

Friday, Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m., $8. The Venue. 521 Broad St., boisevenue.com.
