Add the Words film at the Egyptian

Staff Pick

In 2012-2013, the Add the Words movement, which advocates for adding "gender identity" and "sexual orientation" to Idaho's human rights law, asked its allies to write "Add the Words" on sticky notes and put them on legislators' office doors. It was a creative, charming and unsuccessful move. In 2014, things were less congenial: ATW demonstrators blocked the Senate and House chambers during the legislative session. There were more than 100 arrests, and Michael Gough and Cammie Pavesic caught the--again, ultimately unfruitful--action on film. Their documentary, Add the Words, premiered at the Egyptian Theatre in June. Whether there will be a sequel depends on the 2015 Idaho Legislature.
