Best Local Dinner

Whether you're dining at a table on the Eighth Street patio beneath strings of sparkling lights, or tucked inside a cozy booth surrounded by laughter in the dining room, every dinner at Fork is a one-of-a-kind experience. Attentive service and satisfying portions of American comfort food (sourced almost entirely from local farms) ensure you will go home happy, and weekly specials like tender prime rib and syrup- and butter-drizzled fried chicken and waffles supplement nightly favorites like short ribs and house-made ravioli. Be sure to make reservations, because seats at this classy eatery go fast.

2nd Place: Luciano's—The Luciano's motto is "mange, bere, amore" or "eat, drink, love," and that pretty much sums up dining at this tiny Italian hole in the wall. Yelp reviewers have called the spot "reminiscent of a bygone era" and "the pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow, and its intimate atmosphere and huge servings of authentic Italian grub keep the votes pouring in. Call ahead for dinner, or be prepared to stand in line.

3rd Place: Barbacoa—It's all about the atmosphere in this self-proclaimed "art gallery/museum/dining room," and the giant blown glass chandeliers and 13 1/2-by-10 foot metal sculpture of Medusa never fail to wow visitors. First-rate food, including killer tableside guacamole and local dry-aged steaks, doesn't hurt either.
