Kelly Knopp

A prolific graphic designer and illustrator, it's hard to say whether Knopp is best known for his quirky, sometimes dark cartoons (perfect to adorn anything from posters to skateboards) or for co-owning Swell Artist Collective, a group for local artists with its own studio and gallery on Eighth Street. Knopp's art is "strange and unexpected, inspired by the narrative of everyday life happenings and personal experiences"—and it's so very Boise.

2nd Place: Huckleberry Cloud Photography—Huckleberry has only been a full-time presence since 2015, but photographer Brandy Brown has already made quite an impression on the City of Trees. With nothing but five star reviews on Facebook for her birth, engagement and maternity photos, it's easy to see why Boise Weekly readers voted her business into the second place slot.

3rd Place: Erin Cunningham—With bachelor's and master's degrees in fine arts from Boise State University and a stint as an adjunct professor under her belt, Cunningham is truly a local artist in every sense. Her drawings and paintings, which investigate "how memories change, are forgotten and ultimately become fictitious rearrangements of details" have been on view around Boise since 2004.
