Ironman competitors are tough. There's no doubt about that. They're also just a wee bit crazy--but you kind of have to be to do the extreme physical challenges they call sport. But even the toughest of the crazies has to bow before Mother Nature when she decides to throw unseasonably cold temperatures at you. When competitors started turning blue and shaking uncontrollably, race organizers cut the 2012 Boise event short--much to the dismay of some of the top competitors. But speaking for the appendages saved by the move, we say, good choice.
