Boise Man Charged With Thursday Robbery of Credit Union

A Boise man is behind bars, charged with a felony in connection with the robbery of a local credit union late Thursday.

Just before closing on July 30, a young man dressed in a jacket, tie and black cowboy hat walked into the Idaho Central Credit Union near the intersection of Curtis and Overland roads and demanded money. No weapon was displayed, but witnesses said they feared that the man was armed. Cameras at the bank were able to capture a clear image of the suspect and he was quickly identified.

On Thursday evening, police arrested Ernest Tavares III, 23, at his West Boise home and booked him into the Ada County Jail on a charge of felony robbery. He's expected to be arraigned later today.

The suspect had a mustache and goatee in the bank photos of the robbery, but Tavares was clean-shaven when his photo was taken at the county jail.
