Boise Native Named New Boise State Football Coach

I embrace that success but won't rest on it. We will build this program every day with a sense of urgency. I can't wait to get to work."

A familiar name will return to Boise State to fill the very big shoes of Chris Petersen.

Boise State officials announced this morning that Boise native and Capital High graduate Bryan Harsin is the new head football coach, replacing Petersen who left just last week to become the head coach at the University of Washington.

"Bryan played a key role in the development of the football program as an assistant for 10 years at Boise State," said Boise State Athletic Director Mark Coyle. "We look forward to his leadership as we continue the ascension of Bronco football."

After servicing as offensive coordinator for the Boise State Broncos, Harsin was the co-offensive coordinator at the University of Texas and became the head coach of Arkansas State this past season. He guided Arkansas State to a winning record at a berth in the GoDaddy.com post-season bowl.

"I appreciate the history and tradition of the Boise State program," said Harsin. "I embrace that success but won't rest on it. We will build this program every day with a sense of urgency. I can't wait to get to work."
