Monday's announcement from the City of Boise begs the question: Who's willing to pay an additional $3.50 fee for the privilege of reserving a parking space at the Boise Airport?

Airport officials said they've put aside 23 spaces in the short-term parking garage, close to the walkway to the airport terminal, for premium parking. Reservations are now being accepted on the airport's website or the ParkMobile App.

“We have heard from many frequent travelers in our community that they would be willing to pay a little more to ensure a close-in parking space is available for their next trip”, said Rebecca Hupp, Boise Airport Director. “This gives passengers a new option, while still offering low parking rates throughout the remainder of our facilities.”

Here's a breakdown of the airport's multi-tiered pricing:
  • Reserved (short-term garage): $21.50/day or $2/hour, plus $3.50 reservation fee (23 spaces)
  • Short-term parking garage: $21.50/day or $2/hour (558 spaces)
  • Long-term parking garage: $11.50/day or $2/hour (1,767 spaces)
  • Long-term parking lot: $9/day or $2/hour (597 spaces)
  • Economy parking lot: $7.50/day or $2/hour
