Boise Police, Ada Co. Sheriff Deputies Increase Patrols on Boise River

The Boise Police Department and Ada County Sheriff's Office are increasing their patrols on the Boise River this weekend. Law enforcement said the extra patrols are a reaction to an increased number of incidents on or near the river last weekend, including jumping from bridges, fighting and other alcohol-related issues.

BPD reminds Boise River floaters that:
  • Open containers of alcohol are not allowed on the Boise River or in Boise City parks within 250 feet of the river as posted.
  • Glass containers of any kind are not allowed on the Boise River or in Boise Parks. Beverages should be carried in plastic or aluminum containers.
  • Littering is illegal. Boise Parks and Recreation Department provides trash and recycling bins at the rest stops and at the take-out in Ann Morrison Park.
  • Boogie or river boarding is prohibited in the Boise River within the City of Boise.
  • It is illegal to jump from or throw or drop any object, including a person, from any bridge, tree or other landscape features into the Boise River within fifty feet of any boater, floater, rafter or tuber.

The increased patrols will be deployed on the Boise River between Barber Park and the take-out in Ann Morrison Park.
