Boise: Prepare for The Knux

Sunday, Dec. 11 at Neurolux

The Knux's ascent to popularity happened quickly. In 2007, before the alt hip-hop duo's first album was even released, the band crossed the country opening for Common. Not long after, it was signed to Interscope Records and the group's songs were being featured on HBO shows.

The Knux spent 2009 touring with the likes of The Roots, Nas and Q-Tip.

The Knux is originally from New Orleans, and after Hurricane Katrina hit, the members of the group--brothers Krispy and Joey Lindsey--relocated to Los Angeles. Occasionally, elements of NOLA-style funk and jazz traditions are found, like on "Queen of the Cold," one of the better tracks off the recently released Eraser. But for the most part, the new record is full of radio-friendly pop songs with juvenile lyrics that might make one wonder why this show is at a 21-and-over venue.
