The City of Trees' bike and pedestrian thoroughfare turns 50 this year, and in its honor, Boise will host a series of events between Thursday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 21. On Thursday, Mayor Dave Bieter will honor the people who made the Greenbelt possible and look back on its history. That kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at The Egyptian Theatre. Then, on Friday at 11 a.m. at Shoreline Park, city officials will unveil a time capsule that was buried 25 years ago. There will also be Greenbelt tours and previews of future Greenbelt plans. Then, on Saturday, there will be a 10:30 run/walk and a food truck rally in Ann Morrison Park from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in the same location, with live jazz at 6 p.m.
