Boise's X Man

B-town resident Christian Questad will compete in the Skier X Men's competition at the 2006 Winter X Games 10 in Aspen, Colorado, this week. if you're not familiar with the Winter X Games, think sick snow tricks done by athletes of questionable sanity (and gigantic cahones) performing a variety of feats that often end in gruesome wipeouts, but which nonetheless entertain the crowds. Moto X events have motocross tricksters shredding the half-pipe, and a variety of ski and snowboard showboat and racing events happen throughout the games. Questad, who is a professional skier and former downhill racer, competes in the Skier X, an event in which the worlds of motocross and downhill collide in the cosmos and land on a 2,000-foot-long course with tabletop jumps, banked turns, rollers and gaps.

Check out the finals—where Questad will hopefully be representing his home state—on ABC on Sunday, January 29 at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
