Inaugural Town to Summit race

OK, extreme bikers, here’s your chance to show who’s really king of the mountain.

The first Town to Summit Hill Climb will lead bikers 12.4 miles from Ketchum to the Trail Creek Summit east of Sun Valley. The race will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, in front of The Elephant's Perch and will include roughly 2,000 feet in elevation gain—1,500 of which is in the last four miles. The first 9.2 miles are chip sealed roads, then, the dirt and the hard-core climb begins.

Registration costs $15 for those with a U.S. Cycling Federation license or $25 for those without. There is no online registration, but it can be done in person at The Elephant's Perch any time before June 21.

To draw out-of-town racers, Sun Valley Lodge is offering a $99 per night room rate for Saturday, June 20. Call 800-786-8259 for information and mention the race when making reservations.
