Cake-Boy Robs Bank with $2 Bomb

The sixth bank robbery to happen in Boise in the last year was the cleverest yet. Boise Police are on the lookout for a man in his 20s who robbed a bank with a box of cake mix and a tricked-out car toy. The robbery occurred on May 10 at the Key Bank on the 4900 block of Overland, when the man set a small package with a blinking red light on the counter. He was last seen leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.

After the robbery, the Boise Police bomb squad determined that the package was not a bomb, but was in fact a criminally delicious box of Pillsbury double pudding classic yellow cake mix covered in plain paper. (Mmm ... cake.)

To give his cake the technological facade of a James-Bond-esque bomb, the suspect had simply attached a red "Tire Flys" battery operated light-the very same ones used by Boise cruisers to make their hub caps light up at night. Detectives believe the cake mix and the light may have been purchased in a nearby dollar store. Really, it's just that easy, folks.
