CD REVIEW Jeff Baker: Monologue

Boise singer Jeff Baker is working his way up in the jazz world. And the jazz world is ecstatic. Baker is back with the new disc Monologue, which releases nationally on January 25. Listen to these smooth numbers performed by accomplished and established musicians laying the foundation for Baker's silky, navigational voice; close your eyes and you're in hip company at a swinging piano bar--perhaps the old Manhattan Grill, Baker's one-time steady venue. Baker's take on song is rich and easing, and what with the absence of Gene Harris and Fat John, it's about time Boise had another notable star in the genre.
