Choosing Sides

Like a playground game of kickball, election season means it's time to pick sides.

The spate of political endorsements has started hitting the in-boxes of media outlets across the state. One of the latest comes from Chamber PAC, the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce's political action committee.

Not surprisingly, the chamber is backing a handful of candidates who are both business- and transit-friendly.

Those earning the chamber's nod are District 14 Republican Senate candidate Chuck Winder and District 16 Democrat Rep. Les Bock. Bock is leaving his seat in the House to take a shot at the Senate seat being vacated by David Langhorst, who is running for the Ada County Commission.

The chamber is also backing District 18 Republican House candidate Gail Hartnett, as well as two candidates from District 20; Republican Senate candidate Mark Snodgrass and Republican House candidate Keith Bird.

Finally, the chamber is supporting two incumbents from District 21; Republican Sen. Russell Fulcher and Republican Rep. Cliff Bayer.

The endorsements are firmly in the Democratic category when it comes to the Ada County Commission. The chamber is officially backing incumbent Commissioner Paul Woods and Langhorst.

The Chamber is reserving judgment in other races until the general election.
