The College of Western Idaho is gathering feedback from the public about a proposed plan to break its service area into five trustee zones.

The CWI Board of Trustees voted unanimously April 19 to recommend a redistricting map that apportions zones each with populations of 115,000-118,000 residents.

The proposed map, which was produced by CWI geographic information systems and geography faculty member Bryan Krouse, comes as the college begins the process of entering into compliance with a law passed by the 2016 Legislature requiring community college boards of trustees to be elected from districts in which they live.

The various proposals, including the one favored by the CWI Board of Trustees, can be viewed online; at the CWI Nampa Campus Academic Building, located at 5500 Opportunity Drive in Nampa; or at the Ada County Campus Pintail Building at 1360 Eagle Flight Way in Boise. The comment deadline is Friday, April 29.
