Last week, you may have gotten the impression that people who fly non-motorized aircraft no longer have to pay sales tax on their wing-thingies (BW, News Shorts, "Idaho's Crazy Law Clearinghouse, Part Two," April 5, 2006). But as several astute readers pointed out, a "glider kit" has nothing to with either gliding, or with KITT, the talking car on Knight Rider. A glider kit is a trucking term, referring to the process of reconstructing a large truck using parts of an old truck, and some kind of kit ... or something. Glad we could clear that up for you.
