CWI Announces Another Land Purchase, This Time in Nampa

The College of Western Idaho announced June 22 that it was moving forward with a plan to purchase 32.5 acres of land just north of its Nampa campus for $815,000. College officials were quick to add that they don't have any immediate plans for developing the property but an expansion of the Nampa campus seems inevitable.

“This property will be a great addition to the Nampa Campus,” said Trustee Stan Bastian. “As we continue to develop our campus and serve more students, the land provides flexibility for future growth and connection with the North on Cherry Lane.”

CWI officials said they hope to close the sale within the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, CWI officials have slowed down their purchase process for 10 acres of land, just west of downtown Boise. In early May, CWI Trustees ordered an appraisal of the Boise land in the shadow of a rather public debate over whether the college had paid the appropriate price—$8.8 million—when it was learned that the land had an assessed value of $3.6 million.
