Re: “Barbacoa Brims with Bombast

This review is so pathetic and underhanded, it makes me ill. I have friends and family who work there, I have eaten the food non-biased and absolutely loved everything I have had. That is a true statement. All the staff are very attentive and courteous and do their very best to provide patrons with a dining experience they can enjoy while being surrounded in beauty. Who wouldn't want to go to a beautifully and artistically stellar restaurant right on Parkcenter water front and enjoy a great meal with excellent service, great food, and somewhere that you can really feel that the owners put in a lot of energy to their life's vision together. For fine dining, this is as good as it gets here in this food genre. I'm not even saying this because I know a couple wait staff...I am straight up calling a big BS on this completely ridiculous and frankly off base "review". (hardly a review, since you never mentioned how wonderful and expeditious the wait staff and back up are, nor did you sample anything else it seems and made a really pathetic ass of yourself. If you think it's overpriced, tell me then why I went and had a great anniversary with my wife and had appetizers and entrees and even a glass of wine and still felt totally fine with the bill. I had a great experience on my anniversary. We were treated so kindly and met with respect and dignity and a well knowledged staff. Boise weekly is probably just peeved that Barbacoa doesn"t advertise with you, and hence the restaurants that do, get the reviews they want, maybe not even deserve. Totally an underhanded way of trying to turn people away from one of the greatest restaurants to ever happen to Boise. It's not that I don't eat other places. I totally do. And i like their food too. But this "review" is clearly written by an undereducated, paid and gag-ordered employee of Boise Weekly who has zero clue what fine art is. All the paintings in their, from my understanding were painted by Martine, co-owner and they are amazing and detailed and are not "kitschy" on any level. None of the art is. Do you even know what "kitchy" means?... (FYI-definition of Kitsch-Kitsch is a form of art that is considered an inferior, tasteless copy of an extant style of art or a worthless imitation of art of recognized value or cheap mass-produced objects that are unoriginal. Kitsch also refers to the types of art that are aesthetically deficient.).... This defintion does not even come anywhere near describing the totally original pieces of hand made and local art, paintings, furniture or otherwise. This is absolutely so stupid that I am tempted to walk into Boise weekly and pay to have you review my cooking at home, since if I pay you, you'll probably be obliged to give me a great review. Get a clue "Guy Hand" and get some class Boisee Weekly, you cheap lowlifes. You are just sleaze. Cheers to Barbacoa for bringing an upscale and totally original and fantastically designed restaurant, and thank you for serving us some darn good food and wine too. Thanks also to the wonderful staff that work very hard to accomodate you to the best of their ability and to the chef for having some very awesome skills in the kitchen. Barbacoa is great. I am not affiliated with them, do not even know the owners, and I mean it when I say, you guys are wonderful.Keep up the great work!
