Re: “Times-News: Group Calls for Closure of CSI Refugee Center over Terrorism Fears

As always there seems to be a disconnect from reality with these folks. The Refuge Resettlement process is thorough, complex and, despite a slim chance a problem might arise, has seen very few resulting deportations. Here's a link to the program from the State Department about the "Expedited Protection and Resettlement of Refugees" - http://www.state.gov/j/prm/releases/factsh…

Re: “Away, Away, Away Down South in Idaho

A symbol of racial and religious oppression, this flag has symbolized much more than it's original, short-lived 4 year stint as a battle flag. It isn't even the flag of the CSA! Since the end of the Civil War, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, more than 500 extremist groups use the confederate battle flag as one of their symbols. The effort to remove this and all symbols of oppression and hate has carried on in the face of fervent opposition. While it is well within your free speech rights to show this flag or, for that matter, a swastika if you should choose. But they have no place being displayed at our American public institutions.

Re: “The Changing Face of Hyde Park

Won't happen (period) Many of us have spent decades (before 1987) to ensure this type of thing won't happen.

Re: “Idaho Senate Passes Abortion-Restricting Measure

I think this will hit Idaho's rural women and especially teens hard. Keep in mind, between 1991 and 2010 there were 44,957 teen births in Idaho, mostly in rural areas, costing taxpayers a total of $1.2 billion. Technology like that being outlawed contributed to a decrease in teen and unwanted pregnancies. Taking away a woman's choice should be outlawed.

Re: “The Wrong Question: Idaho Labor Dept. Chief Target of EEOC Probe

Little wonder Governor Otter and his administration seem clueless about Idaho's reputation and this won't help attract the best (maybe not even better) people for jobs at the State of Idaho, even if things do get "better". Can you imagine a coach telling players we're good, we don't need to be better? That coach would last 10 minutes, but not Butch Otter thanks to our Idaho electorate.

Re: “Idaho Republican to Otter: 'The Emperor Has No Clothes'

While I agree with very little of what Rep. Boyle represents, she is spot on with her assessment of Gov. Otter's actions. BUT, the fault also lies with her and the rest of the GOP dominated legislature. They generally rubber stamp Gov. Otter's appointees - Teresa Luna as Director of the Dept. of Admin or the "free market solution" for Idaho Corrections are prime examples. So, when she asks "Why did this occur?" she should look squarely in the mirror and asked herself, "are we confirming the best people available for these positions" instead of playing along with Otter's "crony capitalism".

Re: “Thanksgiving at North End Recovery House May Be Its Last

The North End's 'Grapevine' needs to be saved by the City of Boise! Countless lives have been saved because it is there. I know the community will rally to help if allowed. This is personal for me as I have taken many friends, strangers and even family to the Grapevine because, for many of them, it was their last chance.
