Degrees of Separation: Treasure Valley Graduation Season Begins

Idaho will show some real class in the coming weeks as graduation season comes into full bloom. 

Boise State University got things started Saturday, handing out more than 2,500 degrees and certificates at its 98th commencement ceremony. This year's commencement included the hooding of 13 doctoral students.

Later in the day, the College of Western Idaho handed out nearly 1,300 degrees and certificates to its graduates. This year, the youngest CWI grad was 17 years old and the oldest was 68.

The University of Idaho will holds its Boise campus spring commencement Monday evening, handing out 114 degrees from students taking classes in Boise and Twin Falls. That will include three doctoral degrees and 48 law degrees. Monday's ceremony is slated for 7:30 pm at the Boise Centre. Treasure Valley United Way CEO Nora Carpenter will be the commencement speaker.

High school graduations will soon follow, with the Nampa School District beginning its ceremonies the week of May 16 and the Boise and West Ada school districts holding their many graduation ceremonies beginning the week of May 23.
