As the Gardner Co. continues to erect what will soon become the City Center Plaza, complete with a new transit center, convention facility, a new building to house Clearwater Analytics and offices/classrooms for Boise State University, and a remodel of the U.S. Bank Building, the Capital City Development Corproation has been busy working on designs for the surrounding Grove Plaza.

In anticipation of sharing some of those designs, CCDC is expected to soon open a shop-front on Eighth Street where it will hold a series of open houses in September and October. And on Tuesday, Aug. 11, CCDC and its design team from CSHQA and ZGF Architects will brief the Boise City Council on some of the early concepts for the renovation of the Grove Plaza.

Among some of those concepts are:
  • An update of the fountain and water effects
  • A plan to replace and update the tree planting system in the Grove
  • New high-efficiency lighting
  • New paving while retaining the engraved bricks that have been a staple of the Grove since its inception
  • Moveable seating options
  • Integrated event lighting and audio
  • More shade, including some interim shade structures while trees grow in size

The presentation will be part of the City Council's workshop session Tuesday afternoon.
