Devorah Sperber

When: June 20-Sept. 20 2009
June 20-Sept. 20. New York artist Devorah Sperber creates abstract images through the use of the computer to pixilate the images of famous paintings and then reproduces those pixilations using thousands of spools of colored thread. She then displays the spool-constructed pictures upside down that are viewed through a specially-designed acrylic sphere, and are immediately recognizable as the masterworks emulated. Sperber's work addresses the complex relationship between the way we think we see and the way our brains actually process images.
