Neurolux, Friday, Nov. 30

Here are just a few of the places the California band Dirtwire claims to have performed: the capital of Kazakhstan, the Australian Outback, Balinese pirate ships, a bluegrass joint in Tokyo, New York City house clubs and inside "dragon-sized art cars" at Burning Man. It only takes a few minutes of listening to realize why Dirtwire's music grants it access to the unexpected: Leaning on an eclectic instrumental soundscape (When is the last time you saw jaw harps and space fiddles on the same stage? Or the last time you saw them, period?), the band blends bluegrass, folk, electronica and more into a universal language. On Friday, Nov. 30, Dirtwire will add Boise to its list of venues when it plays Neurolux, testing the crowd with material from its brand new album, Road Goes All Night (Beats Antique Records, 2018). Whatever you think of Dirtwire's musical fusion, the band says one thing's for certain: "You can dance to it, as sure as a lizard dances in the desert."
