Get in touch with your inner child for a cause

How often do you get to smack someone in the face with a ball and say it’s for a good cause?

Not often enough if you ask us, but the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County is offering the all-to-rare opportunity. The Eight Man Mayhem Dodgeball Tournament will give adults a chance to simultaneously get in touch with their inner children, while showing off their grown-up competitive streaks.

Here’s how it will work: Teams of eight players (age 18 and older) will face off against each other on Saturday, Oct. 31 for a chance at more than $4,000 in prizes. But more than that, there are bragging rights at stake, not only for the ultimate champion, but for the best team name, best uniforms and best team spirit.

Teams can be coed, but regardless of the mix, everyone will play against each other. The tournament will be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Garden City beginning at 9 a.m. that day.

Entry fee is $200 per team, which bags players an event shirt, sponsor bag, a team photo and a minimum of two matches. Organizers are also looking for sponsors for the event, and all proceeds raised will go directly to the Boys and Girls Club.

But if you want to play, you have to plan. Deadline for sponsorships is Tuesday, Sept. 15 and the deadline for team registration is Friday, Oct. 16.
